Most everyone loves music and has their favorite artists and genres. Whether choosing live performance or prerecorded tracks, the music should always set the tone and the feel of the event being hosted. For instance, gangster rap probably would not go over any better at a 50th-anniversary celebration, than opera would at a high school graduation party.
Why Hire a Professional Entertainer
Hiring a professional entertainer will take the hassle out of the music planning. An experienced entertainer will take into consideration the size of the guest list and venue, the events’ theme and most importantly the wishes of the host when choosing the proper set lists.
Professional entertainers should also take into consideration the sound equipment they are supplying. It is important that the music is heard but not at such a loud volume that guests can not easily speak to one another. A true professional will take the time to communicate with the events’ host, discuss the planning and provide music that is conducive to the events’ ambiance.

Guest List and Venue
A professional entertainer will always take the size of the guest list and the venue into consideration when choosing event music. For events of a more intimate setting such as small backyard weddings and special events, live acoustic music is very pleasing to most guests. Large weddings and special events hosting a few hundred people usually require a full band or D J to provide the upbeat tempo to keep that many guests feeling energized and entertained.

Themed events should provide a specific feel that all guests will enjoy and talk about for a long time. Choosing music that supports the event’s theme is important to ensure that guests feel energized and connected.
For instance, when hosting a backyard luau a ukulele in the mix is very appropriate. Songs about the ocean and classic standards are always well received for most themed events on the Outer Banks. An assortment of tempos usually works best for all themed events ensuring that guests can relax or dance their hearts out.
Many events center around a guest or guests of honor who's preference of music should be taken into consideration. With the exception of surprise parties most guests of honor are very involved in the events’ planning and have expectations that absolutely must be met by the professional entertainer.
For all event services from catering to decor and music, it is the professional’s responsibility to know those expectations and to provide their best service accordingly.
